Secret Santa 2012 Launch

It's that special time of the year again: the Secret Santa Fic Swap is back!!!

This year is going to be even better than last year's swap. Firstly, because Santa's got his act together this year and given you more time for sign ups, more time for oneshot writing and yet the same great fic swap. And secondly, because this year Santa and evieeden have been joined by the gorgeous idealskeptic!

Once again we urge you all to get involved and gift and receive the best possible Christmas present ever: your very own customised fanfic. So, find out what's involved below, sign up using our form page and get cracking on those oneshot ideas knowing that you'll get a story back too.


How it works: To get involved all you have to do is fill out our sign up form which will commit you to writing a Secret Santa fic for someone else in the fandom. In return, you'll get a gift fic yourself from your very own Secret Santa. Thus you will both give and receive. Once the sign ups are over, you will receive an email from us with the details of the person you will be writing your story for, including a list of some of their likes and dislikes. When you sign up yourself, we'll ask you if there is anything you're not keen on writing and hopefully you'll then be matched up with someone who meets your criteria. (It's like internet dating, but with fic.) Reveals as to who wrote what for whom will be revealed after Christmas.

If anyone's worried about the time available, especially given how hectic life also gets in the run-up to Christmas, we're going to impose a word limit on the exchange stories of 1000-5000 words. This means that no-one will slave over a 20k epic only to receive a 100-word drabble in return.

Dates to remember:
Sign ups will take place for four weeks from today until Sunday 28th October.
You will then receive an email with your receivee's details by Sunday 4th November.
You will then have six weeks to write your fic and email it into us to be sent off by Saturday 15th December.

Once Christmas is over you'll then be able to post your stories to your own accounts, blogs etc.
